Austin-Lake House

There seem to be no other records on Thomas Austin, who built this house. In the mid-nineteenth century Lucy Lake, a seamstress, widow and recent English émigré, lived and plied her needle here for thirty four years. Walter and Annie Walsh, who kept a popular saloon nearby, called it home for more than 30 years at the turn of the century. With the exception of the removal of the central entrance facing Main Street, this one and one-half Greek Revival retains much of its original appearance.
