Ellsworth Store

This late Federal/Greek Revival Transitional building, incorporating many Asher Benjamin details, was built by Edgar B. Ellsworth for use as a store. Ellsworth’s residence, since moved to Division Street, was then directly south of this building.

This is one of the oldest commercial buildings in Hudson, and has seen service as a general store, bakery, cheese factory and antique shop. It now serves as the offices for a dental practice.

The front façade is noteworthy, with its heavy frieze dividing the stories and the four pilasters separating the entry door and windows. The elegant, transomed side entrance on Division Street should not be overlooked.
