Hannah Hurn Holmes House
Hannah Hurn Holmes came to this country from in England in 1833 about the Westmoreland with her first husband, William Doncaster, her mother, Lucy Hurn Markillie, her brother, David Hurn and James Doncaster. Her only child was worn and died during the voyage. In 1853, she married John Holmes, a carpenter, and they built this Gothic Revival house the same year. Hannah live the rest of her life her, until her death in 1888.
The upstairs window is not original and probably replaced a Gothic-style window. The porch was added in the 1870s, the foundation has been replaced and there is an addition in the rear.
