Heritage Home Program Topic of March 13th Meeting
Representatives of the Cleveland Restoration Society will provide an update on the Heritage Home Program when Hudson Heritage Association holds its monthly meeting March 13. CRS’s Heritage Home Program has been available to Hudson residents since January 2013, offering a variety of services to owners of homes more than 50 years old.
CRS operates the program in a number of communities throughout Northeast Ohio as a way to help owners of older homes repair, maintain and preserve the historic features of their property while allowing them to update interior features and improve energy efficiency. Through the program, homeowners can obtain free professional advice on making improvements and obtain names of recommended contractors. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify. Projects can range from painting and landscaping to full additions, foundation work and window replacement.
Hudson Heritage Association co-sponsors the Heritage Home Program along with the City of Hudson in order to make it available to Hudson residents. More information is available at https://www.clevelandrestoration.org/homeowner.
Mary Ogle, Heritage Home Program specialist, and Jeff Marks, Preservation Construction Consultant, will provide an overview of the program on March 13. A panel discussion will follow, featuring contractors who have worked with the program and Hudson residents who have taken advantage of its services.
Founded in 1962, Hudson Heritage Association works to protect historic buildings, the village streetscape, and the city’s Western Reserve architectural aesthetic. It encourages the preservation of historic buildings by providing research, resources and education to homeowners who wish to maintain their historic homes and co-sponsors the city’s work with the Cleveland Restoration Society. HHA also works with building owners to help them meet historic marker requirements and identifies those buildings with the HHA historic marker. The association shares and celebrates the history of Northeastern Ohio by publishing books and newsletters, conducting workshops and field trips, and hosting monthly meetings that feature local preservationists, historians and craftsmen.
The Hudson Heritage Association meeting is free and open to the public and will be held at the Barlow Community Center in Hudson. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. and will conclude with refreshments. For more information, call 330-342-7996.
