James Ellsworth Estate Cottage No.1

This Federal/Greek Revival, circa 1830, was once owned by James W. Ellsworth and features one of the red tile roofs for which he was known. It is said to have been moved to this site during Ellsworth’s restoration of Hudson in the early 1900s. This is a splendid specimen, with heavy pegged timber construction, a lunette, corner boards, returns and frieze windows. Windows on the first floor are 12-over-12. Ellsworth called this Cottage No. 1. Its companion, Cottage No. 2, is located at 204 Aurora Street.
