Old Hudson Burying Ground – Tom Vince Speaker, Oct. 9th Meeting
HUDSON HERITAGE ASSOCIATION will meet on Chapel Street in Hudson at 6:30 PM Thursday, October 9, 2014 for a tour of Hudson’s oldest cemetery, the Old Hudson Township Burying Ground on Chapel Street. Conducted by WRA Archivist Tom Vince, this historic cemetery saw its first burial when John Brown’s mother died in 1808. Although it’s been over a century since the last burial, markers for the veterans of the War of 1812 were added a couple years ago. Vince will also discuss the gravestone rubbing project of the 1980’s and where the old rubbings are now. A great evening for your kids taking local history classes this year.
Visitors are urged to wear comfortable shoes, dress appropriately, bring a lantern or flashlight and please park on Chapel or College Streets.
The Hudson Heritage Association meeting is free and open to the public. This meeting will begin 1 hour EARLY at 6:30 PM and take place at the Old Hudson Burying Ground on Chapel St in Hudson. For more information, call 330-342-7996. hudsonheritage.org
