Charles Buss House
This circa 1890 Queen Anne is said to be the result of a competition between two Hudson merchants – Charles Buss and Dennis J. Joyce – to determine which of them could build the grander house. This one was built by Charles Buss one year later than the Dennis J. Joyce House next door and would appear to have won the contest on the basis of its tax valuation: $2,000 vs. $1,500 for Joyce’s property.
The home features multi-patterned siding, vertical siding under the porch, a pyramidal roofed tower on the southwest corner, a full-facade porch with a spindlework balustrade and decorative roof trim.
