The Kent Historical Society – Wells-Sherman House 1858 Greek Revival – November 14th Meeting
For our November 14th meeting the Kent Historical Society will present the story of the preservation, research, relocation and restoration of the Wells-Sherman House, an 1858 Greek Revival house now located on North Water Street in Kent.
In 2012, KSU purchased a student rental house to make room for the Esplanade project, to connect the campus with the town. With research, it was discovered to have been built by Zenas Kent, Kent’s founder, for his daughter Frances and her husband George Wells.
The Kent community formed a non-profit to save the house and KSU agreed to help move it to a new location. With photos and explanation of the history and process, the Kent Wells-Sherman House, Inc. will provide an interesting preservation story.
The Hudson Heritage Association meeting is free and open to the public and will be held at the Barlow Community Center in Hudson. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. and will conclude with refreshments. For more information, call 330-342-7996. hudsonheritage.org
